Such prose is a rare occurrence on modern blogs- a pleasure to behold! We're still in WA, best beaches I've ever seen anywhere in the world. You'll love it when you get here. May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
Hello Our Beautiful Friends!
So pleased that you are all having a fab time in WA, we are loving the photos. Shame we couldn't share the experience together but the NT awaits!
Are you having fun.
Where have you traveled
Love from the marchese.
Getting ready for uni to start - making me very jealous of you being away! Just think, when you get back I'll be FINISHED!!!!!!!!
I LOVE your website. I LOVE seeing what you are doing. I am sooo jealous of what you are experiencing and am excited for you when thinking about the huge adventure you have waiting ahead of you. And now I feel like I'm coming with you. Can't wait for the next installment. Where are we going next?
I LOVE that you are digitally with me on our adventure ... but this does not mean that I won't be calling! ... may even need to use the satellite phone at times. Would love a caramel latte with you NOW!
Hello beautiful Whitemans!! I'm loving watching your adventures unfold on your blog! The pictures with the manta ray are fab. Can't seem to comment on individual posts but just this main blog entry page.... Much love to you all. Xxxxx
It is difficult to believe that after a year of analysing at Pablos, we are on our adventure, and we as a family are having a blast of a time!
You are correct Sarah - it is only within the Blog that you can post a comment. It has been set up as a website with a Blog within the website.
Loving your posts and pictures of your holiday! ... you Stewarts seriously know how to always have the best time!
sounds awesome what you guys are doing and sooo jealous as we live in this sandpit called Dubai... good ;luck on the adventure and no doubt all your little additions to the beast will come to great use as no doubt you will need them along the way. only thing i would suggest is a gold detector for those place you go through that were former gold rush towns....always search u nder and around very large trees as these places were not dug out during the gold rush ;) enjoy guys!!! and if you find a nugget i get 10% for the advice.... :)
I can't believe you guys are still in Dubai! Thanks for following our journey - but I'd like to know more about your travels in & around Dubai! Jadaxx
Hey Jada, Roger, Ally & Harry
We are going to be following your journey with lots of interest.
Stay safe and have lots of fun.
Much love Sue Phil Ida & Rozzie xxxxxx
Terrific that you will be following our trip ... the good, the bad & the ugly ... I think Rog will be reporting on everything!
wow that caravan is a big improvement on the ones I remember!
What your west of Melbourne already?! I was going to suggest you buy some rocky road in Ackland St St Kilda - best in the country.
thanks for letting us come along for the ride.
Hello John & Christine!
So pleased you have joined us for the ride!
John-we may skipped Melbourne, but you know the rest of the country pretty well, I'm sure you would have other spots for us to visit for delicious treats...including wine! Jxx
Are you having a great time.
Where have you went so far.
Love from the marchese
All the way home I missed you,I wish I could stay with you for as long as I could, but as long as I wish I could stay, i can't hope. Anyway have a great time. Love from Alana.
I loved seeing you at Anglsea, and really wish that you could come travelling with us!
We are now in The Grampians, it has been raining but we still went bush walking today!
Keep writing to me Alana! ❤️ Ali xx
Loving watching the journey and looking forward to seeing where you're going next. Looks hot! Hot, wet and humid in Sydney. Worried Rog might come back and take over the website!!!
I think we could employ Rog on a casual basis for our website ... his training program was superb xxx
The weather has been coolish since The Great Ocean Road-I much prefer.
Love that you are following our journey xxx
You have made great progress and we hope you have had a few swims along the Great Ocean Road.
Enjoy the walks in the Grampians.
We are all packed and ready to head for Towoon Bay in the morning -staying at Sally's tonight.
'Aunt and Uncle'
Hello My Aunt & Uncle!
So pleased that you are following our travels! Enjoy Toowoon ... I'll miss not being there this year, enjoy the views & the superb company! Jadaxx
Roger & Family, have an awesome trip - I look forward to reading about your adventures!
Hi Sandra hope you had a good break and got away somewhere as well
Hi, it's Tom. I hope you're having a good holiday.
Hope you're having a great holiday, ours was great and had lots of fun.
Hi, I hope you're having a great trip, you're a lucky duck, not having to go to school! Connor
We have been in The Grampians for the last week and had little internet, so sorry for the late reply.
The Grampians were great. We went bush walking, rock climbing and saw lots of emus, kangaroos and birds that I haven't seen before.
We are now back on the coast at a place called Port Fairy.
Hi Tom and Connor,
I'm having a great time. I have been bush walking, rock climbing, trampolining and have fed lots of birds with bird seeds.
I liked seeing your holiday photos.
Oh no! Just saw the pics of a prostrate Jada! Roger, did you do a thorough OH&S evaluation of the van prior to departure.........LOL.
Hope you're feeling better soon, sure you've a spectacular bruise to show for it.
Oh man, it was awful! I loved the green whistle that I was given to suck on! Kim where do we pick up a dozen of the green whistles - they would be fun for our girls nights! it's amazing how quickly the body heals - 2 short walks today! Jxx
Where are you?
I just saw your message.
I hope you are having lots of fun at the moment. I hope jada is okay and all is well.
I hope we keep in contact.
I've been in The Grampians for a week bush walking. It was fun. We are now in Port Fairy not far from where I saw you a week ago. I love you writing to me!
Love seeing all the photos of where you are and what you are up to. I do hope you are recovered or at least recovering from your back injury. That did look nasty. Take care and I look, forward to following on your travels.
So great to hear from you, and awesome to know that you are following our little story!
The fall and pain were yuck! It's been a week now and I'm much better ... I think another week and hopefully it will be honky-dory!
REMINDER: You can not ❤️ Lesley & Pat more than me by 2016! xxx
Finally got to see some photos!! Great, looks like you are having a blast! Rock climbing looked most impressive to us! Emily wishes she could do it with Harry rather than in a silly hall!!
Cant believe you got injured, hopefully the ambulance was not 3 hrs away?? Hope all is good now, Love from the envious Visser's
I asked Harry if he'd like to go rock climbing with Emily, poor kid nearly jumped out of his skin with excitement, saying, "For sure! Where is she?"
He looked very disappointed when I explained that the rock climbing would be with Emily next year! He's still keen for next year ... even in a hall!
My fall was such bad luck! The ambulance trip to the hospital was 20 min, and for the ambulance to initially get to me was about 15 minutes! Our public health care system is outstanding! The treatment & care I was given in a little country hospital was fantastic! I'm still sore but recovering!
So pleased you enjoyed SWR, loved the photos. Jxx
I wish there was a like button underneath all your pictures. So glad you've recovered from your fall Jada. Thought I was out of a job for a minute there (😉).
There's a technology challenge for you ... create a like button underneath each picture for us! We are loving Weebly & (Rog says) it's pretty straight forward to navigate, but few added features by Weebly would be worthwhile.
The fall was awful, but GWPS needs you! Jxx
Will get onto it. Maybe there is and we just haven't worked it out yet.
give me log in details and I'll see what I can do.
Just read your rig and van info page. You should have been an engineer - impressive level of detail! FYI, I used to use Ray at Artarmon Automotive for years when I lived down that way - it's a small world!! Kim
At the mechanics I dealt with Eddie, maybe it has changed hands?
It's nice to know that someone has read that section! Roger
How's the rig after the beach bog event - no damage I hope! So kind of you to let a local help you out!!
The rig was fine - it was a beautiful spot to get bogged. Rog was pleased when I pulled out a beach towel to catch a bit of sun & stayed out of his way while he got the rig out. Fun to watch! Jxx
Loving your pictures and blog - Are We There Yet???
Sorry to hear about your fall, but glad you're up and about again.
Looking forward to following your journey.
Great to hear from you! We are in a gorgeous town on the Great Ocean Road called Port Fairy. I've spent the afternoon riding the town taking photos of the quaint houses-it may remind you of home! I'll load the photos under the Port Fairy tab.
'Are we there yet...' We have heard a few (too many) times already, and we are not even a tenth of the way around! Ahhhhh!
Hi Jada, wow it looks and sounds like you are having a wonderful time already. Apart from hurting yourself. Was it just a ploy to indulge in more vino? As the new school year fast approaches ( 5 sleeps) I am very envious that you have so many more months of fun and adventures ahead of you. Miss you already. Stay safe and saviour each and every day with your beautiful family.
The special vino glass (that you gave me) is getting a seriously good work out. Let Graeme Ellis know that I have not been too any wine o'clock drinks with any nomads! ... Yet!
We are 1 month into our travels and I'm loving this nomadic life - maybe my sheridan towels & sheets, my thermomix & my last little purchases from Witchery are helping me adjust to this new nomadic life!
Next week I start the Distance Education 'stuff' with my kids - ahhhh! Your class of 30 is looking pretty good to me right now!
Today in Mt.Gambier I bumped into a mum whose child I taught 18 years ago in kindergaten-he is now 23!
I'll be thinking of you Monday morning ... don't forget to stop at Pattisons!
Enjoy! Missing You xxx
Love following your journey Jada. ❤️
I love following your journey too! Your girls are all grown up ... how quickly it happens!
Enjoy LPS next week! Jxx
Jada I meant savour not saviour. Typo !!
Oh man! I did not notice the 'saviour'!
Does this mean:
A. I've already been on holidays too long!
B. I need to brush up on my teaching skills ... maybe I should have brought the new English syllabus away with me after all!
I will saviour! Jxx
Hi Whitemans. South Australia already! How's the weather been? Just wondering who the strange man with the beard in the photos is?? Happy travelling. x
The weather has been coolish during the day-perfect for bushwalking. At the moment it's pouring with rain-I truly love camping in a caravan!
Ahhhh, the mysterious man with the beard is my husband! He now shaves his head & beard at the same time!
I'm really getting into the hang of this travelling, hobo lifestyle ... as long as there is a Woolies & a Westfield nearby!
Just showing Pat the website - looking great
Hope you enjoyed Day 1 Week 1 Term 1
I'm having pangs of really missing you girls! xxx
Dear 4 Whitemans,
What an adventure and so well put that it is a journey ! I remember my year as a backpacker when i was a mere 20 years old as probably the most memorable year of my life and I often drift off in thought to those days. So it is wonderful to see that even when you are in your 40's and 50's you are able to do this !! Enjoy, this journey will become part of who you all are and it will never leave you, ever !!
Love the Keywoods
Our long-time travelling buddies, spin a map of Australia & pick a spot to come travelling with us! We are overdue for a catch up ... Chantel, I think WA would have a day spa for us!
Miss you guys xxx
I can see that this journey has already become part of your DNA ! The WA West coast looks fabulous. We would love to catch up some time this year during your travels. My parents have just visited us from The Netherlands. At the end of June, we are travelling to Fiji and are going to cruise the Yasawa Islands. Maybe we can meet on the East Coast, our girls would really like to see the Great Barrier Reef. So keep us posted because that might be a meeting point ?
Travel safe and enjoy every moment !!!
I knew you didn't let the tyres down.
there's always one
Hello neighbours, all quiet here. Every now and them I have a look to see where you are. Jon asks are you going to Kangaroo Island? We loved our stay there a few years ago. Sorry about Jada's fall. That's the sort of thing us oldies do! Only you heal quicker than us...Travel safely,
Hi Marg and Jon, for various reasons we decided against Kangaroo Island - maybe another time. We are now in Adelaide and waiting for the heat to hit us in a few days, it has been remarkably cool for the last few weeks. Thanks for keeping an eye on things at home.
We now have a neighbour called Ron with a Big Red Car. No, it's not like the Wiggles one, it's huge with fins, and only just fits in the garage. Seems a nice guy, so we are glad he has now moved in. He is bringing another special car too, along with the one he actually drives, so it will seem normal again next door!
Keep enjoying your travel, love to all, Margaret and Jon
We are glad someone is in there as well!
Glad Ron is nice and trust you both are well
We are now at Steep Point near Streaky Bay doing very little for a couple of days which is great
So fabulous to see all your adventures on the road! We're all absolutely thrilled for you. Jada - tell me you're relaxed and loving it? I bet you even Cootamundra was great!
We're all having an absolute ball up in the Sunshine Coast. We've settled in well, the kids are loving school, and life is very good indeed. But now you're giving me itchy feet to be on the road again! Thanks for the memories, and so happy to see you making so many great ones that you'll share forever.
How's the school work working out?
Hello The Andrews Family!
It's fabulous to hear from you and to know that the big move went smoothly. What an adventure you all have ahead of you!
As for our adventure-I am loving it! Im loving the freedom, the variety of each day and watching my kids laugh all day long. I'm now appreciating this incredible opportunity that Rog has created for us.
The school work ... Ali is great, as for my Harry - Harry would rather be collecting snails, rescuing injured birds and socialising with the camping backpackers who play music loudly and dance on their cars! Harry has life all sorted!
It's great that you are getting itchy feet to hit the road again, pick a spot - The Simpson, Cape Yorke ... join us, it would be a hoot!
A surprise for me is the limited internet service as we travel, even in areas that are not very remote. We have been on the Yorke Pennisular for the last week, amazing scenery, but no internet - so sorry for my late reply.
Dear Alison ,its me Alice everyone at school is really missing you especially me and Emily.I wish that you were here but i hope you are having a good time thanks for the presents you gave me at the end of last year i wish i could have given you something in return. hopefully when you come back we will be able to see each other.
We are currently on the Eyre Peninsula and having a great time. Yesterday was especially fantastic because on the way to to Point Gibbon ( where we are staying) we saw a huge SEAL!😀Hope everyone there is having a good time!
I met you a second valley. Jen and Alan sent me the link to your blog so I thought I'd check in. (it would feel a tad creepy to look at your adventures with out letting you know I'm here).
So glad you got to the Willunga Farmers Market (see any yoga teachers?) I did look out for you but I breezed through pretty quickly that day. And you made it to Innes National Park, another of my favourite places.YAY!
Enjoy each moment.
Thanks for the comment and for checking out our site. It is great to hear people are following us.
We loved Willunga markets. We rode the bikes there through the vineyards which was great. I didn't see anyone teaching yoga but did see many who looked like the should be ... Hope all is well
I am loving your photos, especially those seal ones. Aren't they gorgeous? You make me want to pack up and travel too. What am I doing working? Anyway, you and your beautiful family are looking well, relaxed and very happy.
Safe travels and I look forward to more great photos.
Thank you so much for taking us swimming with the dolphins, Ali! Glad we just had the sound and the visuals if they were a bit smelly! Wow! Haven't we a beautiful world :)
Hi Aunty Juliana
We were very lucky that day.
I was sooo excited.
Hopefully Tuesday we go on a tour to swim with sea lions which I am really looking forward to
That Sea Lion was fat and should be put on a diet.
It is illegal to chase and harass dolphins.
I thought I saw a triangular dorsal fin in amongst the others.
Seen one seal lion and dolphin, you've seen them all - boring.
You may gather I am as envious as hell.
That sea lion was fat!
I think we walked past it without knowing on the first pass!
With the Dolphins we were just lucky although there is a lot around here.
We plan to do a paid tour on Tuesday to swim with sea lions and dolphins. Hopefully it won't be an anticlimax...
Wow guys, lovely site. Looking forward to reading it in more detail. Lovely to meet you all and have coffee this morning. I'm sure we'll see you again on the Big Lap! Cheers, Julian
Great to meet you guys and hope we cross paths again
What a fantastic holiday! Love the pictures of the Yorke Peninsula -stunning. Ali & Harry won't want to go back to school. How are they enjoying home schooling?
Jada, the package arrived - caravan must be travelling lighter! Year 2 are still visiting but may have their own room by the end of term.
Still working on that like button but I now have the instructions so will give it a go over the weekend.
Happy Birthday Lesley! Hope you had a super fun day ... at work!
The Yorke Peninsula, particularly Innes National Park, was pretty spectacular. I enjoyed the variety that South Australia offered - dramatic coastlines, dry in lands and very friendly locals.
The work that Sydney Distance ️Ed is providing is spot on! Ali is committed and engaged in the school work. As for Harry, he is not committed and completely disengaged to school work.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I usually get an email to say you'd replied to my comment and only just saw your reply.
How beautiful is WA!! You've covered a lit of territory already. Can't say I'd be very committed to my school work either if that was my classroom. I think Brian and I will have to follow in your footsteps one day.
Busy term has made it fly but will have time to have a really good look at all your photos
How are things?? Missing you all lots. Roger, Sean wants to talk dates re our proposed visit - we're starting to look at airfares, so are hoping to get an idea of timeframes. Maybe you and Sean could email to get the ball rolling? Sean's email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Pics on FB are fabulous - love that sea lion!! Welcome Fest was last night at school - lots of fun had by all. Netball and soccer seasons about to start, I went back to uni last week - there's a shock to the system - study -- What's that???????????????
Love to all, the Sweeneysxxxxx
Your last year of study! It's a down hill run to the finish line. Just think, when we catch up in the middle of the year you will be half way there, when we catch up at Toowoon it will be all over!
Missing you very much especially our chats and laughs. Been very busy with the school year starting etc Gosh you look like you are having the most amazing time. You have seen and done so much just in 2 months. How is the home schooling going? The kids are no doubt learning more outside than from the books. I am counting the days until I leave for the US to see Indi for her first birthday, I can't believe she is almost 1. Graeme heads off on his surfing trip to Indonesia in a couple of weeks so lots of travel for the Dudleys. I am fortunate to have Scarlett in my class this year so we have lovely chats about what the Whitemans are up to. Enjoy your trip across the Nullabor. Love Rosiexx
You always put a smile on my face when I hear from you xxx
Your beautiful India is nearly 1? How quickly a year goes by. The U.S for a birthday celebration will be terrific. Tell your Graeme that we saw some gutsy/crazy surfers in Elliston (SA-Eyre Peninsula) surfing at least a kilometre off shore catching awedome waves but in prime Great White Shark territory!
We have now been on the road for 9 weeks and it has flown! We are now in WA, crossing The Nullabor was great.
The schooling set-up is proving successful for Ali & unsuccessful for Harry. My Harry would rather be snorkelling, fishing, climbing, bike riding or poking himself in the eye than doing anything that resembles a school activity. Not sure if it's the student or the teacher that's the problem?!
Love watching your travels from afar. But why'd you leave Roger for that old bearded bloke. Go back and get him.
Very funny coming from a man with magical ties which get shorter every time I see them!
I have it on good authority that silver beards are 'the look' and you well know how image conscious I am.
Missing you heaps at GWPS! Glad you are all having such a fab time! Loving all the photos.
We are still having a fab time! However, I do get pangs of missing GWPS! Hope the house renos are going well. J❤️
I saw on Kim Sweeneys FB that you and your family are travelling for the year. How exciting for you all. The photos are amazing and looks like you are all having an absolute ball. I noticed that you are in WA. My brother in law lives in Denmark, have you been thru there yet? It is an amazing area and the beaches are just beautiful.
Enjoy your adventure.
Mrs Ayling xx (ex-Gordon East!!) :-)
Hello Mrs. Ayling!
It's great to hear from you. We left for our adventure just after Christmas and we are having a super time. I've seen and done a lot of interesting things, but my favourites are visiting Sovreign Hill, swimming with sea lions and meeting new friends.
My favourite town is Denmark! We have been here for a week and love it! I'll look out for your brother-in-law!
I bet you are having a fantastic time. I'm pleased you liked Denmark, was it warm enough to swim? We love Elephant Rock and Green Pools. We have had 2 great family holidays in WA and we love it there. Hope you had a nice Anzac Day somewhere. Is mum being your teacher for the year?!? I bet she's good. Keep enjoying yourself.
Mrs Ayling xxx
Hi guys looks like you are having a great time and are now expert nomads! Looking at your sites brings back sweet memories and I wish I was there! Take care and enjoy xxx
Hello Lotus Family,
We often mention your beautiful family in our travels-your many recommendations have been excellent, thank you! But we are waiting for you guys to join us-anywhere!
My kids officially now love salami after having tried some at your house. Shame we can't get Mettwurst salami outside of S.A! A good reason for us to come back to S.A.
Love to you all, Jada ❤️
Whitemans! Your travels look amazing & you're obviously now complete naturals at it! missing you all.. Mike, loooooong overdue phone catch up soon! Love u xxx
My Pilly! We haven't spoken since we were on the Yorke Peninsula-that was about 5000km ago! Absolutely overdue for a phone catch-up!
We are all honky-dory, fill you in when we chat soon.
Love, Love, Love My Pil! ❤️
Hi Jada and Family
I have just spent some time looking at all the photos of your adventures thus far. Amazing experiences everywhere you go. You have done so much and its only April. We all miss you very much at GWPS. I am off to see Indi on Tuesday, very excited. Stay safe and relish those wonderful adventures you are having.
We are seeming some beautiful places, and the kids are enjoying themselves! It really would be perfect if Harry would do some school work.
Enjoy the U.S, enjoy Indy & please post pictures for us!
Travel safely, J❤️
Wow Jada - I've always said how amazingly beautiful our country is and you're proving it to me! Have added a heap of things to my bucket list now :) Love checking out your adventures. xx
Great to hear from you! Pleased that you are enjoying the website. There is so much to see & do that we can't squeeze everything into the 12 months-but we are giving it a go!
From your trip at Christmas, I'm keen to go to 1770 - looks & sounds terrific.
Love seeing photos of your family! J❤️
Hello travelers, hope you like Perth, we have enjoyed our stays there. Will you go to Rottnest island? We hired bikes there. Nothing to report here. All quiet next door. Ron now has 5 cars, two of them Cadillacs, so we are in good company. I fear his wife must have said it's either me or the cars! It's school hols here now, so no school work allowed for the kids! Travel well, cheers from Margaret and Jon
Hi Margaret, good to hear all is well at home. Hope for Ron's sake there is no hail storms. We did go to Rottnest and loved it. The kids are settling into school work reasonably well and are blissfully ignorant about school holidays - they have enough excuses already! We are heading to Monkey Mia tomorrow. Hope its not too commercial ...
Hello Whiteman family! Your travels look like lots of fun, your photos are amazing. I remember Busselton Jetty - what an amazing spot for Alison to learn to dive! Your photos are inspiring! I definitely need a holiday. Perry and I are off to Lord Howe Is in a couple of weeks. All the best for your travels, Lubica
Hi Lubica, hope Lord Howe is good - haven't been there yet. I should add it to our itinerary. You should try tagging along on more of Perry's "research tours" - that man has more holidays than any salaried person in the free world!
Hello Happy Campers - It was so lovely to start reading your blog tonight - we were taken straight back to Baird Bay with those playful sea lions and the feeling of relief when you get those fly nets on during a fly storm. You all look so happy and carefree on your big adventure and the weather looks amazing. (Cyclonic & freezing here in Sydney!) Make the most and enjoy every moment - we are looking forward to you reaching Northern Australia in the dry season....
Love Eleanor, Kate and the rest of the 4wheatleys
I'm so pleased the 4wheatleys have found the 4whitemans! I'm sorry for the late reply but internet access is not so great in these beautiful parts of Australia. You will be pleased to know that tomorrow we are heading towards the Kimberley's and The Gibb River Road, we are pretty excited! We loved Ningaloo & Karajini, your recommendation of Osprey was perfect! I continue to look at your blog to see what the Wheatleys did in different spots, great tips always! Really enjoyed the Europe posts as well. Keep in touch, Jxx
Just had a lovely time catching up on your trip. How quickly have the 4 months gone!! As you probably heard we've had terrible rain here. Most of us had to park in the street behind the school as a tree came down on a couple of cars and we couldn't get through. There's still a lot of homes without electricity especially on the central coast .
You'll be pleased to know the library's almost back to normal. Sam's been fantastic putting all the tubs and shelving together and I went in yesterday to try and find a place for everything.
happy travelling north x
We are finally have reliable internet coverage - sorry for the late reply! We had a wonderful time in WA and have crossed the border into the NT-the fun continues! Pleased that the library is back to its regular routine for you & Pat.
Wow - loved all the photos of all those wonderful rock layers and dinosaur foot prints! Love to you all, you look so well XXOOXX
Hello Julianna! What a treat it was to catch up with Victoria in Alice! We all had a wonderful time. Victoria took home some surplus gear for us - hope it's not cluttering your house now! J❤️
Harry has changed so much!!! new teeth and longer hair!!! Looking good:)))) Love all your photos, very envious!!!Emily is so looking forward to playing soccer with Harry again! No loss for their team as yet and Emily scored goal in last game:) I can't believe you are almost half way through....you probably didn't want to hear that:) Lots of Love
Hello Siggy! Sorry for the late reply - internet coverage through the Kimberley was not the best! Great to hear about the soccer success this season - Harry is itching to kick the ball with someone other than me! You know that fantastic site at South West Rocks we have? Our van is too big for the site, so we will be tenting it at SWR this year! Come & join us! J❤️
Hi guys. We all love the photos of broome. Wishing we were back there with u guys. 10 deg here! Hope alls well, love us xxx
Hello! We just finished The Tanami track which track do you want to do next with us? J❤️
Hello The Whitemans
Man we miss you all!! I haven't had a chance to catch up on your trip since South Australia! What amazing photos and commentary! You all look so smiley and happy and well. We've had a typical week of work (really going well for me!), kid activities and now a lazy Sunday with a coffee at Pablo on the cards! I've so enjoyed your blog with my cuppa! Enjoy- it really looks so wonderful! Lots of love xxx
Hello Beautiful Friend!
Pablos like good old times is not that far off - looking forward to it already xx
We are now in Darwin defrosting (the Centre was pretty chilly!) and I'm heading to every market available to me! You would love the Darwin atmosphere - tropical & relaxed. I think Darwin needs to be on the cards for a girls get-away weekend! Missing your happiness & our everyday chats xxx
Hi there, sitting here on a Saturday night with a glass of wine - made me think of you! Wonder what you're doing?
Wouldn't mind a Saturday night, a glass of vino and my special Kim for a mega catch-up! Here's a brief update...
Finally in Darwin & loving the warmth & city living! Basically you can take a girl out of the city but you can't take the city out of the girl! I've been to witchery, country road, sports girl ... Simply loving Darwin!
I'm looking forward to that Saturday night ... J❤️
Just to let you know I am sending the DP Chip via Kununurra PO, 89 Coolibah Drive. They will hold it for 10 days.
I will put your mobile ph number on the parcel just in case they may call you.
Hope all is going well for you and the family.
Just caught up in your adventure. Everywhere looks beautiful. It's hard to believe you've been gone 6 months! School is very busy and everyone is looking forward to the holidays in 2 weeks. We've been pretty lucky with the weather don't feel like we've had winter yet.
Look forward to seeing more photos soon
Leave the cold behind and join me in Darwin!
I've been reading up on the roll-out of all the new syllabus' ... We'll need to have a few coffees for school 'stuff' catch-up. It will be like professional development sessions at Pablos! J❤️
Hello, did you survive the Gibb, still waiting for news so we can meet up very soon, we're not far away!
Hello lovely Whitemans,
you all look like you are having a wonderful time, your photos and videos are amazing! we especially liked the turtle eating the jelly fish and I'm with Jada re exiting when seeing a shark! good survival instinct. much love, from the Forsythes
The turtle eating the jellyfish was amazing to see. It was one of those times when you are torn between capturing the footage and simply living the moment so since I chose footage I'm glad you enjoyed it. We are up north now and while warm it is not so easy to swim and snorkel, especially after today seeing 'Sweetheart" the salty in Darwin Museum, caught in 1979, at 5.1m and 780kg he would have made short work of me!
we wondered where you were, so I just had to have a look. Whatever happened to Rabbit Flat on the Tanami? It used to be a fuel stop and a camping area for travellers on that challenging road. Have a great time in Alice and Uluru. It's a nice time to be there, though a bit chilly at night.
All well here,
Cheers, from Margaret and Jon in Tamboon Ave.
Hi Marg and Jon
The Tanami was a challenge but very worthwhile. Rabbit Flat is unfortunately closed. I have fond memories of it in 1984 and while I knew it would be closed I was hoping to at least see it and reminisce a little, however, even the access road was blocked! Consequently it is now a long way between fuel stops. The centre was freezing but we are now back to the warmth of Darwin. Hope all is well for you guys.
Loved the photos of Darwin. We lived there for 18 months and Mindl Markets was one of our favourite places in the Dry. It's a fun place for kids. The Wet was like a sauna, every day was a bad hair day! The compensation was that all the trees flowered, and lots of different birds came. it was so pretty and green. We loved our time there, and enjoyed all the things you can do in the Top End. Keep having fun in Kakadu, Margaret and Jon
Started another term without you! Missing you heaps and so many stories to share. Planning for renos are underway. Your photos look amazing! Glad you are all having a fabulous time.
Hope all's well. I'm sorry but I just had to tell the staff the real truth about your trip and the SHAM that it is!! They now know you only got as far as Woy Woy and fell in love with the simple life and could not leave...amd that's where you have been for the past 8 months.
You love having dinner at 4:30, in the afternoon and then sitting around in a circle with people named Beryl, Norm, Bertha, Bert etc drinking cask white from your sensible plastic cup. By the way how is your recipe book working out ? You know the one....1001 Ways With sausage Mince!
You then get to go to bed by 7:00 and dream of the ablution block and all that snot on the wall of the shower cubicle and then there is the toilet where you get to see the results of fellow campers use of 1001 Ways With Sausage Mince.
If you do finally decide to move on...to say Budgewoi...you get to do it all again with a new bunch of people named Beryl, Norm, Bertha, Bert etc.
What a life! What a great trip! See you soon.
Ps I did see you in Coles Darwin, but managed to duck out of the sausage mince aisle before you started heading down it. Also how good are the $2.99 5 litre Fruity Lexia casks???
Who would have thought that cask wine & mince would taste so sweet!
Loved your post, please don't leave us next year...are you secretly planning to join Bertha, Norm, Betty & Bert in Woy Woy for 2016? You would love it!
Love all the photos. OK you prepared the food with the locals but did you eat it? And if so what was it like?
Loved the campsite at Coburg Peninsula.
Hi Uncle Phil
collecting the food was hard work and took a lot longer than you would imagine. I almost died of hunger while collecting a handful of water chestnuts.
I helped prepare the nuts and mussels, Harry loved plucking the magpie goose but when it was all cooked and ready he would not try it but I did. I liked the goose and the buffalo but it was strong and a bit chewy. it is much easier to hunt and gather in Woolworths.
Now I'm taking notes about Far North Qld! Lawn Hill & Atherton tablelands look amazing. Glad that you are still enjoying the wonder of discovery and the traveling life with your lovely family. Am loving the vicarious journey and your marvellous pictorial record too.
Love Kate and the 4wheatleys.
Travelling life continues to be very enjoyable! Highlights have been The Old Telegraph Track up to Cape York (who would have thought I was a 4WD lover at heart?), and a rather alternate festival called 'The Wallaby Creek Festival' (who would have thought I was a hippy at heart?).
We are now near Port Douglas waiting for the wind to calm down so that we may head out onto the reef ... It's not looking promising! We feel there is still lots to see but with little time left!
Hope you and your Wheatley clan are all well! Looking forward to all The Whitemans meeting all The Wheatleys, J❤️
Wow what an educational experience you are all having, especially Alison and Harry. An education you can't get from books or IWBs. I am enjoying following you around this beautiful country of ours. Taking notes so I know the best places to visit when I eventually visit the NT one day!! All your friends at Sherwood are well. Irene is currently in Hawaii for Rebecca's wedding!! Looking forward to following your trip home through QLD. Take care xx Michelle
Hello, hello, hello! So pleased to hear from you Michelle, and great that you are following our trip. I agree that Ali & Harry have it pretty good this year - but I do wonder which outcomes we will not cover this year?
I'd love to know more about you & boys, & more about the Sherwood crowd! I think a Sherwood get-to-together is needed in the new year.
Thank you being in touch, pass on my hellos to your boys! J❤️
I love seeing what you have been up to every week or two. Funny to hear you had your first puncture Rog - Mum & I were only recently wondering if you'd had one yet!
Mardi enjoyed her 102nd little party - a repeat of her 101st party in the little room.
I presume (hope) Mum told you that Bec & Aaron had their beautiful girl Rhylee in April - she is 5 months now, very cute.
James has finished school, just exams to go and Dan got his Ls today.
Muzz's is currently working for KPMG and still on the hunt for a permanent position.
Em & I are off to Melbourne for the long weekend which should be good and great to see P & S.
Won't be that long before we see you again. Ali & Harry are really growing up.
Went to see Willard Lee in July and he'd just been on a family holiday to Alice Springs, just at the time you were there with Tors. He commented that the only person he could possibly know there was you guys- how funny, pity you didn't run into him!
Take care and safe travel.
All the Sinclairs. Xx
Would have been funny to see Willard - he could have brought his mirror with him and written off the trip!
Hope James does well and glad to know that Dan is learning to drive while we are up here!
Give all the clan a hug from us.
Glad to see more beautiful pics of your travels. The website is a great advertisement for travel around Australia. How idealic would it be living that that all the time?
My trip unfortunately is coming to and end but I've had a great time. Look forward to catching up when you're back x
Hi! Browsing the pics with Scarlett - she thinks Ally looks really "old" now - like 14 LOL! That photo of Ally scuba diving with the wrasse on the reef was amazing- hope to see it up on the wall as some stage.
Hi Jada, its been so long since I've checked your blog. My goodness you're almost home. Your pics are truly amazing. Each day is such an adventure. At work we are in middle of reports etc "the silly season". Have had a great year working with Stage 3. always a laugh to lighten things up. How are those Sheridan sheets going? Must say you look as groovy as ever in the photos. The kids must be in seventh heaven. Has Rodger coped with the driving? Miss our laughs. Much love xxxx
Hi Roger, I was asking Mitch about you last week and he put me onto 4whitemans. I must admit to being very impressed and of course jealous. Not bad for a lawyer! The photos look brilliant. Good luck for the rest of your trip. We must catch up when you get back to Sydney.
Hi GO, great to hear from you. We have had a fantastic time so far and have seen many wonderful things. It is the trip of a lifetime and I would recommend it to everyone. A catchup would be great, I'll give you a call in the new year when back.
Hello Whitemans. It's been a while since I checked your blog and what amazing adventures you've been having! Love the 4WDing videos - but glad I wasn't there for that as it looked a bit scary! You have the most sensational collection of photos. We are wondering when you are expecting to be back? we are having a party for Liam's 21st on the 19th December and wondering if you'll be back by then and would like to join us?
much love from the Forsythes
Ever since we started heading south from the Cape the end seems to be speeding towards us however we won't be back until the end of January and so will unfortunately miss Liam's 21st. We will have to do it in the new year. Looking forward to seeing you guys again.
We will miss you - and looking forward to a huge catch up when you get home. During the year you've been away you've missed many different iterations of Liam's beard - hopefully he will be back to clean shaven soon! all the best for the remainder of your trip. Lubica
Just wanted to wish you and your family a very happy Christmas and a wonderful 2016. I enjoy following your travels and looking at all your great photos. What a journey you have all had.
I look forward to seeing you back in the library in 2016. I will introduce you to our new friend "Oliver"!
Hi Whitemans where has the year gone? This time 2014 I was at your place checking out the new "homes". Where will you be for Christmas? Looking forward to catching up with you Jada when you get back - we may need more than 1 coffee. Merry Christmas and happy new year xx
Happy belated birthday wishes Rog! Hope you had a nice celebration.
Happy Christmas to all the Whitemans - wishing you all the very best for the tail end of your epic journey and looking forward to seeing you upon your return. Lubica and co.
Thanks Lubica, hope the Forsythes had a great Christmas as well. We are certainly in the tail end now and the prospect of reality sends a shiver up my spine brrr ... see you soon
Hello dear dear travelling friends! I think I must have been texting to an invalid mobile number during the year....but just in case...Happy Birthday to my dear Jadipops......just in time before midnight!! I have been watching your travels sporadically and sending thought blogs....have you noticed the bubble following your van??? You truly are the coolest family to have done this...what amazing memories you will have. Much love to you all and I look forward to a big hug when you return. Again...Happy Birthday my friend xxx
Hello folks, We hope you had a happy Christmas. If you happen to be near Forster for New Year, check out the fireworks. Can't believe you are so near home and not arriving back for another month! So near and yet so far....
Cheers from Margaret and Jon
Hi Marg and Jon, we are close now and feel almost at home here at South West Rocks as this is our usual Christmas spot. We have struck rain here though which is a bit of a shock to the system - we had begun to believe it never rained in Aus! We did however have a beautiful sunny Christmas day - hope you had a happy Christmas as well. See you soon.
Hello travellers! Hope you haven't floated away. It's been very wet here too, but sunshine has returned. We can hear the weeds growing! Some of yours are taller than me. Enjoy those lovely beaches, our favorite was One Mile near Forster when our family was growing up. Happy New Year from Margaret and Jon.
Hi Marg and Jon, it has been very wet but we have kept dry. It makes for a change from most of the year when it seems it will never rain again!
I must say I'm not looking forward to the weeds but at least its good exercise.
Hope you are both well and had a good new year.
See you both soon.
Nelson Bay.. You're in my home town!
Hope you're not getting washed away in that rain!
Looking forward to catching up on your return.
Hi Nick, it's certainly damp here, just glad we're not under canvas. Still paradise though. Look forward to catching up on a month or so.
