Fraser Island, Sunshine 7 Gold Coasts - 21 November - 10 December

Jada, while pregnant with Alison, and I were on Fraser Island (the world's largest sand island at 1840m2) for New Year 2004. We camped on East Beach without power or running water for two weeks and on the last day we visited Kingfisher Bay Resort - big mistake that, Jada has never forgiven me.  It took a while but I made amends by booking us into an apartment at Eurong Resort for our stay on this occasion.

We visited the main sites including Eli Creek, the Maheno shipwreck, Indian Head, Champagne Pools, Orchid Beach, Waddy Point, the Pinnacles coloured sands, Pile Valley, Lake Wabby, Lake Mackenzie and Lake Birrabeen.

The Island was more beautiful and the dingos less prevalent than we recalled, however, sadly there were more yobbos per capita than pretty much any other place we have been to.  Nevertheless we had a great time and will be back.
The highlight of the Sunshine Coast was Edmundi where the Andrews family (formerly of Gordon) who have made a tree change to live in this paradise. Edmundi is known for its markets where produce and products must be locally made or sourced. I dislike markets with a passion and I was able to spend a couple of hours here so its well worth a visit.
The Australia Zoo is also in this area but was a little underwhelming.
As has become our modus operandi we avoided the crowds and camped at Canungra in the hinterland behind the Gold Coast.  My nephew Andrew is working in Brisbane at the moment and spent the day with us at "O'Reillys" which was great fun.
We did the obligatory time at Wet-n-Wild, Movie World and SeaWorld.  It was more fun than I expected (Catwoman was my personal favourite).
