Lawn Hill and the Lava Tubes - 30 August - 2 September
Near Boodjamalla National Park (Lawn Hill) we stayed at Adels Grove campground which started life as a botanic garden. Unfortunately it suffered a fire in the 1950's, however, the remnants of the garden remain evident. The Grove and Lawn Hill Gorge is an oasis in an otherwise dry savannah woodland. Most canoe down the Gorge but we decided to do it on tyre tubes which was great fun.
Undara Volcanic National Park contains the the Undara Lava Tubes, a fantastic geological feature formed by the outside of a lava river cooling and solidifying while within the lava continued to flow. Once the flow stopped a tube remained which can now be walked through - amazing!
